NATURAL HELP FOR FATIGUE

Fatigue is one of the most common presentations I encounter in clients at my Naturopathic clinic. It can vary from a sensation of being tired and worn out due to an unrelenting daily grind to being completely and utterly exhausted despite getting sufficient sleep. If the latter has persisted for longer than 6 months and greatly interferes with daily functioning, then Chronic Fatigue Syndrome may need to be ruled out. Fatigue is associated with numerous health conditions and is frequently a sign of nutritional deficiencies and a diet which is lacking in fresh fruit and vegies, lean protein and good quality fats. Fortunately though, this condition can quite often be corrected through the implementation of good nutrition.

Common signs and symptoms of fatigue include:

• Chronic tiredness or sleepiness

• Headache

• Dizziness

• Sore or aching muscles

• Muscle weakness

• Slowed reflexes and responses

• Impaired decision making and judgement

• Moodiness, such as irritability

• Impaired hand to eye coordination

• Appetite loss

• Reduced immune system function

• Blurry vision

• Short term memory problems

• Poor concentration

• Hallucinations

• Low motivation
