Australian Traditional-Medicine Society
The Australian Traditional-Medicine Society (ATMS) is Australia’s largest professional association of complementary medicine practitioners, representing about 65% of the total complementary medicine profession. ATMS was founded in 1984 and is an incorporated not-for-profit company with the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ABN 46 002 844 233). As at early June 2007, ATMS had 10,767 financial members. ATMS is governed by the Executive Board of Directors, and has four main national committees. The Departments of Massage Therapy, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Homeopathy, Naturopathic Nutrition, Naturopathy and Western Herbal Medicine were established to address the specific needs of practitioners in these disciplines. ATMS is the only complementary medicine association represented on two Commonwealth statutory committees.
The aim of the group is to provide mentoring, support, structure, self development, networking, education, guidance and assist women in the district to establish or grow their businesses or vision. We will provide a resource hub or avenue which will encompass networking, information, support: – It is an opportunity to explore business opportunities for those who are considering business – We will give women in business the opportunity to have a stronger voice in business growth/strategies in the western region – We will be able to open opportunities where males traditionally dominated – We will be a safety net for women who are in business or considering business – We will give women scope to interact with like minded women – We will encompass from budding entrepreneur to Managing Directors, through to experienced mentors
